Web Hosting is comparable to renting an unfurnished apartment. In the previous step you bought the address to the apartment. Now you need to purchase the space to put your furniture (website) in.
In this step you will be purchasing space on a server for your future content to reside and connecting your domain name to that server.
Step 1– Click HERE and you will be brought to Hostgator’s main page.
Note: The above link is an affiliate link. I am an affiliate of Hostgator because they provide such a great hosting service and for a great price (I’ve been with them for over 3 years).
Once you are at Hostgator’s page click on the words “Web Hosting” in the Navigation bar.
This will take you to the page below where you can view your hosting options.
If you are starting only one blog or website click on “Sign Up Now” for the Hatchling Plan. If you are starting more than one blog or website at the same time choose the Baby Plan.
If at any time down the road you want to change plans you can easily do so. For example, I’ve been on the Hatchling Plan for almost 3 years. I recently called in and upgraded to the baby plan because I started another (this) website.
Step 2– After you choose a plan and click on “Sign Up Now” you will come to the page below. Enter the domain you purchased in Step #1.
Step 3– Fill out the information below. I like to doing a 12 month billing cycle because then I can renew my domain name and web hosting once a year at the same time.
Step 4– Next enter your billing info.
Step 5– Now you will have the opportunity to purchase the additional services below (they automatically check a couple of the services so you will have to uncheck them if you don’t want them). I have never purchased these services and have been fine.
Step 6– Review your order and read through the Terms of Service and other policies. Check if you agree. Now click “Checkout Now”.
You did it!:-) Now let’s move on over to the last step where you will Install WordPress!
