A domain is the name or url of a website. It is the internet address that people will type into their browser to get to your future blog or website. For example, the domain of this website is how2startablog.com.
Step 2– A search bar will come up. Type in the name of the blog or website you want to create. For example, for this website I typed in how2startablog and then clicked on “Search”.
Step 3– If the website/blog name is not available it will tell you “Sorry, ______ is unavailable”. Underneath it will give you other similar options that are available. You can choose one of those options or try entering another domain name into the search bar.
Step 4-. When you type in a website name that is available it will tell you “Congratulations, Your Domain is Available.”
To the right of the Congratulations message there will be a checkout cart. Here you will enter how many years you want to purchase the domain for (I always do 1 year and then renew it each year).
Also, they will have automatically checked the Privacy Protection plan which prevents people from seeing who owns the domain and your contact information. If you don’t want it you can uncheck it. I haven’t ever purchased the privacy protection plan and it hasn’t been an issue for me.
Then click on “Continue to Checkout”.
Step 5– Create an account by filling out the information below and clicking “Continue”.
Step 6– Review your order click “Continue to Checkout”.
Step 7– Choose how you want to pay for your domain (I already had a card on file so I selected that option). Read through the terms of service and click that you have read it and agree. Click “Place Your Order”.
You’ve completed Step #1! Let me be the first to congratulate you on owning YOUR Domain Name!!:-)
